LOS ANGELES (AP) — Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull is now just Ian Anderson. He tells Billboard he wants to record and tour under just his own name, effectively ending Jethro Tull. He says his biggest regret has always been the name of the band.

The band’s booking agent named them after an 18th-century British agriculturist in 1968.

Anderson says he feels like he’s committing identity theft by touring as Jethro Tull.

Anderson’s solo album, “Homo Erraticus,” is out today.

The members of his touring band have all been in Jethro Tull at some point.
